Mom warned me that it was really foggy outside when she left this morning...but I didn't know how foggy until I stepped out the front door.  My car sits across the yard and across a driving area (we've got one of those circular driveways so you can easily turn around to get back on the road), it's maybe...50 feet from the door or so....I could barely see it. >,<

So as I start driving to work...there were areas that I don't think I could see more than 20-30 feet in front of me.  Especially out around my house.  We live in the middle of nowhere essentially, lots of fields and stuff.  So if it gets windy...it's really windy out there....and if there's going to be any fog at all, it'll start out there.  So once I got away from that area it was okay, but even on the freeway the fog was thick enough that I could barely make out the exit signs. >,<  I bet they had people leading the way down the freeway again today.

*sighs*  Okay...I'm done complaining about the whether...at least it's not snowing (though it has been icy in the mornings).  *huggles [livejournal.com profile] lucidscreamer as she thinks of how miserably cold it is where she is*

Okay...first a little set up for those that don't know.  A few years back (Auguest '04 to '05 actually) I spent a year in Texas for an internship with Teen Mania Ministry's Honor Academy.  It's a place for spiritual growth and training in leadership, honor, character building, and worldview.  I wouldn't trade that year for anything for numerous reasons.

In one class the teacher had been talking about how the young men of the world today have very little respect for women.  How men used to open the doors for ladies, push in their chairs, etc., etc., and now...a woman is a piece of meat to drool over if she's pretty enough or dresses half naked.  After that class...and for the rest of the year....our guys made it a point to be respectful and polite....I think they took the "opening a door for a lady" too far sometimes... ^,^;;

I have memories of walking to the auditorium.  While still about ten to fifteen feet from the door a guy behind me shouts for me to wait!!....only to run past me and open and hold the door for me with the biggest grin you've ever seen.  That was the most extreme, but that was the gist of how things worked out most times.  Girl approaches door, guy runs up and opens it for her...

Heh....it’s been forever since I’ve had a guy all but cut me off in the hall so that he could open the door and hold it for me.
  Today at work...it happened...

Me: *goes out and puts some folders in the file room for someone else to deal with* *comes back out and is heading across the hall to go back to her desk*  *nods hello to a guy she more or less stepped out in front of*  *swipes card over pad to unlock door and starts reaching for the handle*
Man: *about bounces up and around me to grab the handle first and pull the door open for me with a grin*

Me: Oh!...=3;;; Thank you.... *feels like she’s back at HA, remembering the silly boys that would call to her to stop so they could run up ahead and hold the door for her. ^,^;;;;*

*had to share ~brings back memories~* XDDD
