Woo!!  Thank GOD for vacations!

I'd gotten to the point of seriously stressed, where everyday I found myself wanting to wring someone's neck for any number of large or small (usually small) reasons.  So it was definitely time for a vacation.

Went to seem my sister and family in Houston for a week to have an early Christmas.  We mostly decided on now since going at Christmas would have cost about $200 more each way which would have mean not money for gifts.  We had a great time, though.

Spent time shopping, spent time just hanging out.  Got to help my nephews finish up a history project.  They mummified a chicken using methods as close to the ancient Egyptian methods as possible.  It was time to wrap the body/chicken about three days into my stay out there. X3  We also made frosting Christmas tress out of upside down ice cream cones, covered in homemade frosting and sprinkles for ornaments. XD  Talk about a sugar high!  Frosting Tree + Mexican Hot Chocolate = belly ache and sugar high. 9,9;;

All-in-all it was a great time.  Relaxing, and just what I needed before returning to work.

Had a, um...adventure in our attempt to get home, though.  Got tot he airport in Houston, got on our plane.  They had announced they would be closing the doors in a few minutes when someone decided he needed off the plane...NOW.  There were all kinds of things said about the guy.  Suspicious, definitely Arab, spoke little English....apparently his story was that a friend of his had gotten in an accident and he had decided to stay and go see his friend at the hospital instead of heading out/home/whatever.  He just vanished, though, didn't even wait for them to get his bags off the plane.  On the one hand, if his story was true, I can understand the rush, on the other hand....*shrugs*

So a few minutes later another suspicious looking guy gets off the plane.  Hmmm.  I think some people panicked, because about five minutes later, when we'd still not taken off, about six more people decided they weren't staying.  They got off the plane and left too.

At this point they decided it was better to be safe than sorry and so we were all moved off of the plane for TSA to come in and do a sweep of the plane with dogs and all their testing equipment.  By the time they let us back on the plane it had been over two and a half hours from the time out plane was supposed to take off.  We were...definitely leaving late. ^,^;;

We got into LA just as our next flight was scheduled to take off.  We were informed they were holding the plane and we needed to hurry to the next gate (which of course is on the other side of the airport, right?).  We got on and headed home to Sacramento.  Amazingly we only got home about fifteen minutes late!  Not bad for a nearly two and a half hour delay. =D  And no one hurt, so even better. =3

Aaaaanyway, back to work for me. X3
guardianlunnaei: (You did WHAT?!)
*shudders*  I mentioned before the radio station I listen to?  Mostly music, silly banter between the hosts every few songs that only lasts a minute or two?  Well they'd been talking about their addictions today.  Shawn used to be addicted to Dots until he ate some in the dark only to discover later that they were teaming with ants.  Sterling is still addicted to Starbursts (Shawn was teasing that he could put a cockroach in the bag to help break her addiction. O,o...).  But all of this came up because of a news story that Shawn had heard about a guy addicted to Diet Pepsi...and what he found in his just opened can. XS *SQUICK!*  The guy had opened his can and taken a big gulp only to realize that something was NOT right, it tasted awful!!  And....for good reason..... Apparently there was a dead mouse in the can.  A MOUSE!  *SHUDDERS*  Eww!!

Here's the news story if you want to see the pictures.
WARNING
These pictures are not for the faint of heart.  It IS however safe to click the link and read the story, the pictures are below that if you wish to avoid them. >,o....Here is is *feels bad for the poor mouse....TT~TT*

guardianlunnaei: (!?!??!?!?!??!)
I....I'm sorry, I HAD to share.  This kind of...insanity...makes me think of some of the bad fic stuff that [livejournal.com profile] lucidscreamer  has been posting recently.  I just got this in an email from my uncle. ~,~;;;

How would you pronounce this child's name:

         "Le-a"

 Leah??                NO
 Lee - A??            NOPE
 Lay - a??
   NO WAY
 Lei??                   Guess Again.

This child attends a school in
 Detroit, MI.  Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong.

It's pronounced "Ledasha."

When the Mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she say, "the dash don't be silent."

Soooo, if you see something come across your desk like this please remember to pronounce the dash.

If they ask you why, tell them the dash don't be silent.

This morning has already been....quite eventful...T~T  You know...normal morning, nothin’ happenin’...until I’m on my way to work.  Traffic was slowing down a bit, so I put on my breaks, slowed down, had /plenty/ of room between me and the person in front of me....only to be slammed from behind. T~T  We’re both okay from what I can tell, though my neck is starting to feel a little sore already.  No obvious damage to the cars.  We exchanged information, with the help of a nice guy who’s job is to drive up and down the highway looking for the unfortunate people stuck on the side of the road for one reason or another and help them.  All of that...and I still managed to get to work only 2-3 minute later than I usually do...go figure.  Still shaking, and feeling a little sick at the moment, though I’m sure that’s a good dose of nerves and the fact that I’ve not eaten yet today.

On another note, I hurt my wrist Monday...it’s doing better, though I’ve still got a brace on it.  Yay for worker’s comp.  I saw that I have an email from my supervisor with some paperwork for me to fill out.  Ah well...hopefully nothing will come of it, again it is doing better.

And on another, another note...my poor cousin.  My cousin Kent, the one with Crohn’s, is not doing well.  He’s out on disability...well here...this is what my Aunt sent. “Kent was in the hospital again last week.  Got out on Friday night.  I'm tired.  Found out that the surgeon will not do surgery.  Read his chart and it said that Sac surgery will not do it either until it burst or is completely blocked.  His GI said he would try one more but can't get appt until end of March.  We are going to go talk to patient services and see if we can get something done.  Kent says all he does is sit around the house and he can't even do that without ending back in the hospital.  Having problems with disability too - very little money and the other insurance company sent letter saying if this is a disability from a preexisting condition then they might not pay.”  So yeah...*pethuggles her cousin and prays that something can be done to help him*

And another, another, another note...my sister is having problems too. T~T  She had a couple of her wisdom teeth out forever ago, but two were left in, once ‘cause it was practically under the jaw, and the other because it was so close to a nerve the surgeon said there was a very good chance she’d end up with facial paralysis. >,<  It’s been years since then, her face is swelling and she’s in bad shape.  She’ll be on antibiotics for a week and then will be going for oral surgery, so hopefully things have changed enough that those last two wisdom teeth can be taken out with no problems. *HUGGLES her sister*

And....okay...I think I’m done.  *still shaking she finally drags out her breakfast and contemplates starting some work*

**Cousin’s name changed to protect privacy. *shrugs*

*does a happy dance*  Legislature seems to be getting their acts together around here.  State employees are still to be furloughed (unpaid, forced day off), but it’s only /once/ a month (was twice until today), and we can take that actual day off anytime we want between....well......March and July 2012. =3  *gets an extra vacation day every month*  Granted I get a....what was it?  A 4.62% pay cut?  Something like that...not quite five....but it’s not an almost 10% cut!!!

So yesterday I was looking at two, predetermined days off every month and a 10% pay cut, today I’m looking at a 5% pay cut and an extra day off earned every month that I can take any time I want just like it’s another vacation day.  Not too bad of a deal.

California’s legislature has been in a big fuss over the budget since July last year.  They’ve still not settled on anything definitively, but they’re...getting there.  And the ONLY reason I’ve been paying this any mind (because I DESPISE government workings with a PASSION) is because is /directly/ affects me and I need to know what I’m doing this Friday...9,9;;

So all the little babies at the capitol have finally decided to compromise just a little and stop shitting so much on all the little people.  >,o  *stops before she gets all fired up and pissed off, ‘cause at the moment she’s not and doesn’t want to be*

....But just for today...

Today has been a day of malfunctions and interruptions, and this....is the last straw...  I’ve had doors taunt me and drawers mock me, I’ve had the copy machine cackle maniacally at me, and now I’ve been assaulted by a folder.

Door to the file room didn’t want to open.  It does this sometimes, and it /had/ to choose today.  I swipe by security card, the light turns green, I can hear the locks release...but the locks didn’t actually release.....so you’re left standing there tugging at a door handle that won’t turn and looking like the moron that’s trying to “pull” the “push” door.  Luckily anyone that uses the door knows it does this from time to time and are gracious enough to drop what they’re doing within the file room to come let the less fortunate through the door (since it opens /just/ /fine/ from the /other/ side).

My file drawers were having the same kind of malfunction today.  They’re the kind where if one is open the other won’t open.  So I need into the bottom drawer....but it just will NOT open.  I fight with it only to be mercilessly pwned by the metal drawers of doom.  I’m down on the floor, tugging and pulling, pushing and kicking.....finally did manage to get it open (if I opened the top drawer and pushed it closed at the same time that I was trying to pull the bottom open it’d finally open...just that easy and effortless....the prick.... *yes she just called a set of draws a prick....what?*) only to realize that the materials I was looking for....weren’t in the frarking drawers at all, but up on an open shelf.......Office Stuffs 2....Me 0.....

And our copy machine....just....don’t get me started on the copy machine.  It’s made of hobby out of jamming and has perfected the technique.  I think it enjoys making us poor saps try to figure out to pry a crumpled and shredded piece of paper out of nearly inaccessible nooks and crannies of its mechanical build...

And now...I’ve a paper cut and splinter along the bend of my left little finger.  You read that right....I’ve got a PAPER SPLINTER!!  FTW!?!?!  I’ve a piece of a manila envelope in a paper cut in my finger...HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!??!?!?!?  *huffs....*

So....as I said.....I quit......for today anyway.....
