Felt like sharing a small excerpt of interaction I wrote today. A little set up for the scene. Yami was hit with a magical attack that burned a hole in his shirt and has a circular 2nd degree burn on his chest (basically a circle of blisters and sensitive red skin). Upon arriving back at the camp he, Yugi and Phoenix are staying at Nyri takes him to get the burn treated. The scene picks up after she's taken a good look at the burn...

“I think you might live.”  She glanced up at him, a playful light dancing in her silver eyes.

Yami let out a soft laugh.  “Are you sure?  I thought I was dying there for a moment.”

“Mmm...” She made a show of considering his comment.  She straightened, a finger to her chin and eyes towards the ceiling in thought.  “I dunno.  I did say you might live, there’s still a slim chance that I’ll have to revive you with tickles.”

Yami blanched a bit at the thought.  He was extremely ticklish, and did not find the experience at all enjoyable.  He knew that she was merely teasing, though, and he gave her a smile.  “Wouldn’t want that, now would we?  What must I do to ensure I survive, healer?”

Nyri picked up a small container to present to him.  “You must apply this three times a day, and keep from itching.  If you can manage that I think you might actually live to be a grandpa.”

She knew how to lighten the mood, that was for sure.  With a smile Yami reached up to take the container.  She pulled it back out of his reach though, and opened it.  Wiping her fingertips across the top of the contents she gathered a little bit of the cream and leaned down to smear it gently across the burn.

“Ah, N-nyri.”  Yami started to pull back as her fingers left smears of soft green across the circular burn.  “That’s not necessary.”  He was more than capable of putting the cream on himself.

“Oh hush,” she admonished.  Her other hand managed to catch his shoulder and still hold onto the container of cream.  “Just hold still, will you?”

Yami blushed lightly again and allowed her to finish what she had started.  The skin ached and complained as she rubbed the light-green cream into the blistered burn, and when she was done he had to swallow back the sigh of relief that tried to escape.  He looked down, actually surprised to see that he now had a spot of almost-white green on his chest instead of blistered red.  “What... what is that?” He asked, reaching up to touch the odd ointment.

Nyri gave his fingers a light slap.  Yami jumped and gave her a mild glare.  “It’s a burn ointment.  Leave it alone.  It’ll dry in a few minutes and then you can touch.”

Yami looked down at the jagged circle, glad he would be able to put a shirt on again shortly.  He felt as though she had just painted a target on his chest, and considering the task ahead of him that thought was a little more unnerving than usual.  He nodded though, and waited impatiently for it to dry, already preparing his shirt to be easily slipped over his head.

Yami jumped again when the shirt was snatched from his hands. “N-nyri!”  He was a little exasperated at this point.  “Am I expected to do without a shirt, healer?  It’s getting a bit cold out, I doubt a burn on the chest will keep me warm enough.”

Nyri merely smiled at his dry sarcasm.  “Why, of course not!”  She thickened her accent to sound like one of the eastern folk, drawling heavily, and grinning down at him.  “This thing is full of holes, pumpkin.  You’ll catch your death of cold in it.”  She grinned and leaned forward a bit more, drawl gone.  “You would prefer a new shirt.”  She paused, her look teasing.  “Wouldn’t you?”

Yami opened his mouth only to close it again.  Giving her a small apologetic and appreciative smile he nodded.  “Yes.  Yes, I would.  Thank you, Nyri.”

“You’re welcome, sweetie.  I’ll be right back.”  Nyri turned for the door, pausing to waggle a finger in his direction.  “And don’t you touch that cream until it’s dry.”

“Yes, ma’am,” Yami answered, still smiling.

Not proofed yet, btw...and only read over....maybe twice....so please ignore any errors....or let me know about them...*shrugs*  That works too. X3
