I have decided....that I hate Microsoft Access.  I do...I just do.  This is going to be one of those days where I work all day and have nothing to show for it, because all of it is poking and playing around in a database trying to get the stupid thing to do what I want it to do. >,<  I’ve tried internet searches, I’ve tried looking through the instruction books I yoinked from my mom, I’ve tried just playing around with buttons and seeing what they’ll do.  I /just/ want to make a dropdown list for someone to choose something from, IS THAT SO HARD?!?!

Apparently it is, and Pocket!Yami going between snickering at me for the faces I’m making at my computer, and worried for me as I bang my head on my desk in utter frustration.  Why won’t it just /work/?! TT~TT;;....

So there’s supposed to be this nifty little button on toolbox.  It says “dropdown list” when you hover over it, but every time I click on it...Access spazzes and closes. >,>....Another annoying thing is that on the table, the actual list of information...the field that I need a dropdown list for....has it!  But people don’t have access to the tables, just the forms, and I can’t get the form to let me make the drop down menu. >,<

*snortsnarlgrowl*

Pocket!Yami: =S....=2.....*staying out of her way today*

Sorry...just had to rant....*goes back to poking at Access in hopes of getting it to do what she wants....*

Sort of anyway.  Just got a picture of Trevor's incision. *CRINGES and holds her stomach from sympathy pains*  My God....It really is from just below the ribs to just above the groin.  And it's....rather /open/ at the moment.  He's got a tube sticking out his left side, and this big long nasty incision only has six big stitches in it, so it's gaping open in places.  I'm...guessing that's another way to help things drain? *shudders*  God, I hope so...

I'd share the picture, but 1. I don't exactly have his permission to be posting his mangled torso on my LJ, and 2. I'm afraid I'd make some people sick if I did. >,<...So...just believe me when I say that it looks rather nasty... *is still waiting on more news on how he's actually doing...*

On the other hand, Kent should be having surgery soon.  The doctors have concluded that much of his problems are in one part of his intestines, and seem to be staying there.  So they're going to remove that part completely and connect the two ends of still healthy intestine.  That'll be a short-term quick-fix.  Crohns, sadly, is not curable.  If they could remove his entire intestine the problem would just pop up elsewhere in his digestive tract.  On the other hand, it'll be getting rid of it for now, and he'll be going in for regular check ups so that when it starts to reaccure somewhere they can catch it early and put him on a lighter medication.  Right now the medication he's on is heavy duty, along the same lines as Cemo.  So by having this surgery he should be able to come completley off of the heavy medication and when it starts to crop up again the lesser meds should help.

He was supposed to head into work today, not to work, but to talk to his boss.  Kind of let him know what's going on with him.  Kent has worked /really/ hard for the job he has now, and he really wants to keep it.  He's been in the hospital three times in the last month, and has missed a lot of work.  He's hoping his boss will understand and work with him a little longer, and that the surgery will help as the doctors hope it will.  So... *crosses fingers for her cousin*

*slinks off back to work*
guardianlunnaei: (chib-world!!)

I’ve been getting news the last couple days about my cousins.  I can’t imagine how stressed their mothers and wife must be.

One of them, Kent, has Crohn’s Disease.  If you don’t know, that’s when your immune system decides to start attacking your own body, usually the bowls.  It can cause some pretty serious back-up’s and a hell of a lot of pain.  He’s my age and has been dealing with this for years, though has only had a diagnosis for the last year or so.  In the last two weeks he’s spent most of his time in the hospital, and as of this morning is back in the hospital again. ~,~... He’s my age...only a little younger than me (by months...and I’m 23, btw).  His last trip to the hospital was through the ER, and the (*&$# retards practically ignored him for 17 hours before a doctor finally came by at ungodly hours of the morning. >,>...*grumblegrumblemutter*  He was fine all weekend, was starting to feel pretty bad last night, and was back to the Hospital again 3 am this morning. T~T

My other cousin, Trevor, is fighting for his life right now, all because of the $%*(&$%*( IDIOT doctors. *SNARLGROWLS!*  His wife, May, took him to the ER at one hospital.  They determined that his appendix was probably going to burst, but they didn’t have a surgeon on call at the time so they couldn’t help him there.  They suggested transferring him to another hospital about 45 min away.  May didn’t think their insurance covered an ambulance ride so she drove him over herself.  Only.../they/ didn’t have a surgeon on there either.  After TWENTY-THREE (&*)$#)#^%$#)$%)^ HOURS his temperature SPIKES and it’s an “Oh...I think your appendix just burst...guess we better call a surgeon in here...”  NO FREAKING DUH!!!!!! Trevor has had drainage tubes in him for the last three weeks, is /still/ NOT doing okay in /any/ respect, and has had to have another surgery.  He’s been opened “from rib cage to penis” as my aunt put it (he’s her son-in-law) for an exploratory surgery to “find out what’s wrong”.  >,>....

May and her mother-in-law (I’d not wish the wrath of May’s mother on anyone...I don’t think she’s been allowed at the doctors with Trevor...good thing...she’d probably go on a rampage or something....9,9;;...>,>... I know I’d sure as hell like to...*grumblegrowl*).  Anyway, May and her mother-in-law had to practically threaten the doctors to get them to act asap. *shakes head*  Trevor’s abdomen was full of puss and rotting abscesses, of course adding to the pain he’s already in.  Apparently they’d put the drainage tubes in wrong the first time, so nothing was draining....HOPEFULLY that’s fixed now.  They also found that his bowls were blocked by scar tissue...BAD THING... As of now he’s still has strep staff and gangrene infections so....HOPEFULLY these EDUCATED IDIOTS that we have no choice but to trust his life to, will actually develop BRAINS and save his life.  At /least/ he was young, healthy and in good shape when this started, so he may be /down/ right now, but had he not been as healthy as he was before he’d likely be dead by now.  T~T

And all of his suffering was COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR!!  You know how “easy” of a surgery appendix removal is?  A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT EASIER THAN WHAT HE’S GOING THROUGH NOW, THAT’S FREAKING FOR SURE!!!!!!!!  I sure as hell hope May contacts and attorney over this.  They had a whole /day/ to call a surgeon in to take care of something in an hour or so...instead, THREE WEEKS later, he’s fighting for his life and his insides are starting to rot away from gangrene. >C  NOT cool...NOT acceptable...

*SIGHS*....okay...I’m done.  I just...needed to share I guess...Have I ever mentioned that I despise doctors with a passion?  Well I do...there are VERY FEW (I can name two that I’ve seen and /one/ that a friend has seen) that have /any/ measure of respect from me, and that’s because they’ve treated me, my family, or my friends like /people/ and not charts or numbers. For the most part though....I HATE DOCTORS.  .........................okay...I’m really done now.... *crawls back under her rock, grumbling....*
