I'm so glad I was right.
Sep. 23rd, 2010 09:02 amI mentioned yesterday that I thought the antibiotics I was taking were making me feel bad, right? Well, I not only confirmed that, but figured out how/why too. =3
You see, I got the antibiotics a week ago today, and started taking them that Thursday evening, by Friday morning I was feeling drained and didn't feel like doing anything. By Monday, I was feeling wiped out, and was steadily getting worse as the week went on.
Well, my mom has been taking the same antibiotic. She also deals with high blood pressure. With meds she has it completely under control, though. But yesterday she went in for a breast exam, fully expecting her bp to be on the high side because of some decongestants she's been taking. Well, it was actually on the low side.
I'd mentioned to her last night that I was feeling like I did back when I first came down with the Fibro, when it was really bad and it was all I could do to get from my room to the living room on any given day. One thing we'd found out then was that I dealt with low bp, was actually on meds to /raise/ my bp (dr.'s used to give me funny looks when they saw that in my charts. X3;;). We'd been to a support group, the leader talking about taking our bp on a later date, and it hit me! My bp was low! Had to be!
Mom looked it up this morning and sure enough, Azithromiacine has a side effect of lowering bp! So I stopped taking it as of last night and am already feeling the changes. I'm more steady on my feet, I can think straight again, every step is no longer threatening to pitch me face first to the floor~. I'm still on the weak side, still a little unsteady and OMG my calves are SORE!! That's likely a combo of having to walk down six flights of stairs (stupid emergency drills always happening on days I don't feel well >,>...) and the muscles /trembling/ every time I was on my feet, but all-in-all better.
I've emailed my dr. to let him know I've stopped the meds and why and to ask the next step (because I really don't think the antibiotics did anything for my sinuses. =\). *crosses fingers...something has to work*
