I don’t think I posted when this happened.  But my cousin, Kent, finally had his surgery.  Lots of yucky stuff found in there, and for as much as different hospitals were fighting him on even giving him the surgery right now the surgeon said it was a GOOD thing he had the surgery NOW.  Things went well, but after a week or so of recovery he....wasn’t getting much better.  High fever and the like, which...usually speaks of infection or leaks.  So they had to open him back up.  They didn’t find any leaks, or anything that looked like infection.  Surgeon thinks that there may have been a leak, but his body took care of it naturally.  But they checked everything, clean him out really good, and like Trevor, they’ve had to leave him open to heal...basically from the inside out.

WARNING!!  These pictures are NOT for the faint of heart!!

Speaking of surgery.  I talked to a head and neck surgeon yesterday about my sinuses.  As of now I’ve a tentative surgery date of June 3rd.  It’s been set out so far because he wants to try a few more things first. Part of me is going “UGH NO!!” But I really do understand.  Basically what he was telling me was that, if I’m suffering from a chronic infection, then the surgery will /very/ likely help me...and if I’m suffering from chronic exposure to an allergen then the surgery will do squat for me.  So he’s got me on antibiotics again for a month, and I’ll be hearing from the allergy clinic soon to set a date to be allergy tested.  If they find something then we’ve got time to try some treatments, and if they don’t...maybe I can talk him into moving the surgery date up a little bit....*shrugs*  So for as much as I’m going “UGH NO, I WANNA BE DONE WITH THIS!!” I do agree with checking into the allergies, especially since the surgery won’t help if that’s the root of my problem.

So...that’s that!  *shuffles off to finally get some work done this morning.......*

HOLY CRAP! That's quite an incision!

Good luck with the sinuses. I'm glad they're checking for allergies first so you don't have unnecessary surgery, but either way, I hope it gets fixed soon!

I know. >,< And it's only /half/ as long as the one my other cousin had (from the burst appendix). His was from base of ribs to groin rather than from belly button to groin. >,< *pethuggles them both*

*nodnod* Thanks. I'm starting to wonder though if it's normal to end up feverish when starting antibiotics. =_=;;....
