So I went to my appointment this morning. And waited....and waited.....and waited.....and waited....9,9;; What should have been a literal in-and-out appointment turned into an hour wait before the /very/ quick procedure and out again.... I go there early....checked in at 7:30, appointment was at 7:40.....I read for a while.....wasn't called....checked my watch.....7:50. Nnn...radiology can move pretty slow, so I decided to give them another ten, figuring that for /sure/ I'd be called.....8:00....I ask someone to check....I don't think she did....>,> She did come back to me after a moment and say "they should be calling you any time now".
By this point....I'm not feeling well. I don't know what's wrong with me today. I went to bed feeling......ick....and woke up feeling worse, and....now I've been sitting in the waiting room for almost half an hour and....nothing. Ten minutes later I ask again, and am once agian told they should be calling me any time. >,< Too /bleh/ to deal with any sort of confrontation so I manage to squeak out a soft "okay, thank you" and sit back down.
It's now 8:30 and someone comes to me this time. There had been a lady walking the waiting room and just kind of....helping to take care of the people there. She'd the one I'd asked twice now to check for me, and kept getting told to just wait. Now there was a new lady watching the floor and she stepped up to me and.../finally/ I got some real help.
Lady: Have you been helped yet?
Me: I've...checked in, but...no...
Lady: And what time did you check in?
Me: 7:30...
Lady: And what time was your appointment?
Me: 7:40...
Lady: *makes a face as she checks her watch* And what's your last name? I'll see if I can find out what's going on back there.
Me: *tells her, and how to spell it just in case...*
Lady: Okay.... *moves to the receptionist's desk...*
I didn't hear too much of what she said, but apparently the receptionist called back to cat-scan and was telling them that I'd been waiting out here for an hour....yeah and hour.....she's still here, still waiting. Before I heard the receptionist hang up the phone someone came and called me.
And it was quick. Some cat-scans they've got to put an IV in you to put in the solution to make your blood show up better. They weren't looking at my blood vessles though, they were looking at my sinus cavity, so I didn't need an IV. I came in....laid down on the table...waited about two minutes (likely less) for the machine to do it's thing.....was helped up and showen the way out, assured that I'd have my results by main within 2-3 days.
The lady that had helped me out in the waiting room met me as I was shown out, and asked me a few more questions. Apparently what had happened was they couldn't see me slip in the box. I was given a clipboard with a brief questionair and release when I checked in (for the IV stuff mostly, and didn't apply to me anyway), and was told to just hang onto it and give it to whoever called me. What's /supposed/ to happen is I fill it out, take it back to the receptionist and they clip the little slip of paper too it that tells the doctors that I'm there...mostly so they can /see/ that little slip of paper and it's not just hidden in the box....so I was checked in....my slip was in the box....but no one could see it and because they aren't used to having to dig for it, no one thought to dig for it. ....They lady that helped me was heading into the receptionist area as we passed it, said she was gonna talk to the receptionist about proper proceedure so that didn't happen again....
So that was my morning....>,>....as of now...I'm home.....feeling more than a little under the weather.....*collapses* Blargh...

Date: 2009-02-10 03:58 pm (UTC)I'm glad someone knew what was going on and took care of the problem. Shoddy service drives me Up. The. Wall. But when someone actually takes care of it and bothers to explain and apologize, it makes all the difference.
Hope they find something easy to take care of!
